October 26th -The Novel Ideas 7:30pm

Featuring the voices of three songwriters, their new self-titled album, produced by Rick Parker (Lord Huron) and mixed by Ryan Freeland (Ray LaMontagne, Bonnie Raitt), showcases the band at its best. Capturing the spirit of their live performance in recorded form wasn’t easy, but the result is a heartfelt representation of who The Novel Ideas are as a band. Track by track, The Novel Ideas represents a contribution to the country-folk scene that balances love-and-loss melancholy with thoughtful instrumentation and intricate vocal arrangements. The Novel Ideas are a country-folk quartet of friends hailing from the great state of Massachusetts.   Tickets available here

November 3rd Tight Thumb in the Radio Room

“Take 70’s inspired funk, double the tempo, and then add in whatever next comes to mind. It sounds like a hipster experiment that would result in a sound that could only be appreciated ironically. Instead, it is the combination that has resulted in one of Grand Junction’s most successful bands, Tight Thump”. – GRAND VALLEY LIVE
“The name Tight Thump comes from staying ‘tight’ or musicians slang for being precise and staying perfectly ‘in the pocket’,” Tight Thump’s bassist Allen Bradley said. “‘Thump’ is something I picked up from old Parliament albums, which is a big influence on our sound.”  Join us for a funky good time November 3rd at 7:30 to showcase a great local Band by welcoming them to the Radio Room.   Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased here, or by calling 970-241-8801 or coming to the station at 1310 Ute ave.

KAFM Film Series-The Ox-Bow Incident Nov 7th

The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) is a grim, low-budget Western masterpiece from director William A. Wellman - based upon the famed novel by Walter Van Tilburg Clark of the same name. Produced and written for the screen by Lamar Trotti, this is an intense, blunt, and downbeat examination of frontier 'justice' with simple characters that represent various philosophical stances, opinions, or attitudes. It is an authoritative indictment of angry mob rule and violence that lead to a brutal lynching of three suspicious outsiders - all innocent of the trumped-up charges.

Show starts at 7pm, Doors open at 6:30 tickets are $5.   tickets can be purchased here
