Honey Don't
Add to your calendar
Date: May 17, 7:30 pm
Details: Honey Don't is the musical union Bill Powers and Shelley Gray, also well known as one half of Paonia, Colorado's esteemed old-time bluegrass band Sweet Sunny South. Joining them is Randall Utterback an esteemed fiddle, mandolin, and guitar player.  Their music is based in the folk tradition and takes many cues from a bluegrass and old time background, but also stretches into the more inclusive arena of "Americana" including elements of blues, swing, honkytonk and dare we say, Rock and Roll.

Over the past ten years touring and recording with SSS, Bill has established himself as one of the leading songwriters in the Colorado acoustic music scene. His songs have been described as immediately catchy, engaging, and funny to hard hitting, sad and lonesome. Add Shelley's lilting harmony vocal style and solid bass chops and you've got the core of the "Honey Don't" sound. Most of the songs are original, but select covers and traditional tunes are part of their repertoire as well.

Their 2009, debut release featuring Greg Schochet on mandolin and Ryan Drickey on fiddle hit the top 40 National Americana charts for several weeks topping off at #25. The cd was the #2 (out of 100) most played on Colorado Radio and one of five nominees in the bluegrass category for Denver's "Westword" Magazine's 2010 Showcase.
General Admission: $18.00
