Art Center
Colorado native Collin Parson wears many hats in his personal and professional career that balance and influence each other. Parson will discuss his upbringing as a son of prominent Colorado sculptor, Charles Parson who influenced him as an artist and helped him begin his curatorial career. Parson the artist has exhibited his light-based artwork at the grand opening of the City of Denver’s McNichols Building, the Museum of Outdoor Arts, Loveland Museum, Space gallery, Pirate Contemporary Art and many other institutions in Colorado. He currently is preparing for his first museum solo exhibition at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center in the fall of 2014. Parson serves as the curator for the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada, Colorado as his “day job” where he has programmed over 100 exhibitions in his tenure. All of these hats come with challenges, but Parson will discuss the fulfillment he gets from each one, and how they influence each other.
Lecture series sponsored by Four Rules Book Club, Harris Foundation of Las Vegas, Bechtel & Santo LLP, Shaw Construction and The City of Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture.
