Throwback Thursday - The Head and the Heart

October 30, 2014
Last year, we added the second release from relatively new indie darlings, The Head and the Heart.

Music Bureau member, Carey, had this to say on the release:

2011 brought this earthy Seattle folk-based group from open mic night to the charts. Four years later they return with a more mature sophomore album continuing with heartfelt lyrics including all of the bands best qualities honed into a lovely new release.

The album, released on Sub Pop Recoreds, spent weeks up and down the Top Ten of our College Charts, and was a great soundtrack to the bitter winter that it preceded.

Music Bureau Recommends - October 29th

October 29, 2014
We're always getting new music in the station - here's what some of the members of the Music Bureau recommend for you this week!

Peggy (Show: Tied to the Tracks) Luna Blanca - Pirates Bay (Self Release) - World

"2012 Best World Album is back with their unique brand of Latin (Flamenco) music. There's enough sizzle & spice to take you on a tropical journey that will have you alternately shakin' your booty and then kickin' back with your favorite beverage on a deserted island. Pretty amazing music! "

Joanie (Show: Morning Muse) Immigration Union - Anyway (Musebox) - Alternative

Melbourne, Australia-based band's third release features Brent DeBoer from Dandy Warhols and Courtney Barnett.

H-Man (Shows: Enjoy the Ride, The Divided Sky) Popa Chubby - I'm Feelin' Lucky (Cleopatra) - Blues

"Ted Horowitz, aka Popa Chubby, celebrates 25 years in the music biz by delivering this very nice cd. The gifted guitarist put together a super band to support these songs and also added singer Dana Fuchs (#1) and blues ace Mike Zito (#6). PC wrote 9 of 10 songs. Awesome riffs are never far away and his slightly growly voice make this a must to play on blues shows. No hint of the rough edges in much of his earlier work; this thing rocks."
