The CMU Department of Art and Design would like to invite everyone to join them at their fifth annual Artober Fest, on Thursday, October 17 from more...0 10AM-3PM, on the Delta Field just east of the Fine Arts building. Tours of the art building will be held throughout the day and MED (Mesa Emerging Designers) Will be giving away 2019 Artober T-Shirts to everyone who visits each booth and completes the Artober punch card, while supplies last. Painting students will facilitate a Sidewalk Chalk Contest, limited to five teams or individuals, with prizes awarded to the top three. Chalk provided. Pre-registration required: please email sgarner@coloradomesa.edu by October 14 to register. MED will have a Temporary Graffiti Wall; spray paint provided. The MED store will be providing schwag for purchase as well. The Ceramics Faculty and students will demonstrate wheel throwing and will teach anyone who is interested in trying. Wheels and clay will be available for beginners to try wheel throwing. There are “Blind Wheel Throwing” and “One Hand Wheel Throwing” contests with prizes! Clay Club will have an assortment of student ceramics pieces for sale. The AFP&MD Clubs and Department proudly presents... • Bake sale with free popcorn. • Portraits and caricatures by our talented illustrators for $5. • Polymer clay décor and coloring sheets by our talented illustrators and animators. • “Green Screen Magic” portraits for $5 or $20 for a T-shirt. • T-Shirts printed with 8x10 photograph prints of local landmarks taken by AFP&MD photographers for $20. The Print Maker’s Guild will be demonstrating live printing of woodcuts onto T-shirts and other apparel. These items will be for sale. Bring your own T-shirts to be printed and receive a discount. Sculpture Guild will cast sculptures in molten iron during an Iron Pour. They will begin pouring around 10AM and won’t stop until all the molds are poured. There will be opportunities to win sculpture related prizes throughout the day! All proceeds from sales during Artober Fest benefit the individual student-run art clubs. An assistant professor of Environmental Science at Babson College, Dr. Carey has an educational background at Virginia Tech, Yale and Boston University. She has had considerable involvement in the study and research of ecosystem processes in the context of rapid global change.

With all three band members sharing vocal duties and swapping instruments, the Junkies conjure a wide range of tonal landscapes that pay tribute to the iconic sounds of Gillian Welch, the Allman Brothers, Tim O'Brien, the Wood Brothers, John Hiatt, and countless others while breaking new musical ground with their genre-bending original material. TERRY ROBB Terry Robb is one of the top acoustic blues guitarists of our time. His signature fingerpicking style has earned him international acclaim from worldwide audiences, music critics and his distinguished peers. Incorporating elements from Delta blues, ragtime, country, swing and jazz, Robb has built a unique blues sound that has made him a legend in his prolific music career spanning more than four decades. The multitude of awards Terry Robb has received speak to his seminal talent as a blues guitarist. Robb has been inducted into both the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame. He single-handedly defined the Muddy Award for Best Acoustic Guitar, winning the prize 19 consecutive years from its inception in 1992 to 2011. In 2011, the award was renamed the “Terry Robb" Acoustic Guitar Muddy Award to honor his landmark contributions to blues music. In 2017, he received the Muddy Award for Lifetime Achievement. Robb was born in British Columbia, raised in the United States and resides in Portland, Oregon. He achieved greatness at an early age, performing with Ramblin’ Rex of Frank Zappa / Captain Beefheart fame, Canned Heat’s Henry Vestine, and steel­-string guitar icon John Fahey. At age 24, Robb’s collaboration with Fahey led him to produce several of Fahey’s critically­-acclaimed recordings, including Let Go which earned Fahey a four-star review by Rolling Stone. As an acclaimed producer and session guitarist, Terry Robb has contributed to numerous award-winning projects, including Alice Stuart’s Grammy- and Blues Music Award-nominated album Can’t Find No Heaven. With more than 15 albums under his name, Robb’s award-winning, blues-chart topping discography features collaborations with John Fahey, Eddy Clearwater, Maria Muldaur, Ike Willis and Curtis Salgado. He has performed as a solo artist at festivals, theaters and clubs across the United States, Canada and Europe, toured with Buddy Guy, Steve Miller and John Fahey, and shared the stage with B.B.
