Gerry Spehar is a folk country troubadour from Colorado and a man on a mission. Hot on the heels of last year's critically acclaimed "I Hold more...0 Gravity” the singer songwriter guitar picker is back with a full blown old school protest album. Our new president really got Gerry's goat, but unlike his fellow performers, he's done something very specific about the situation. Think Woody Guthrie backed by psychedelic guitars and funky New Orleans horns. I See Hawks In L.A., prog instrumentalists Double Naught Spy Car, madman Tommy Jordan and L.A. legends John David, Brantley Kearns, Gabe Witcher and Rick Shea are the studio band. Doors open at 7pm show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

On August 4, 2018 Super Rad Art Jam will host the 10th annual Super Rad Mural & Skate Jam at Westlake Park skate park. Super Rad Mural & more...0 Skate Jam is a community event that brings together the exciting worlds of mural art and skateboarding into a day of fun and competition. Open to all ages, levels of skateboarding, and painting styles, the competitions include prizes for 1st – 3rd placements in each of the categories, and is the only skateboard competition to be held in the Grand Junction area. Prizes will be awarded to both a People’s Choice and guest judge selection. Spectating is free to the public and all are encouraged to cast votes. The City of Grand Junction Parks & Recreation Department partners with Super Rad to enhance the quality of the event, demonstrate our ongoing support for local artists and the positive use of our public spaces. Mural artwork is created on free-standing structures to make the skate-able surfaces safer for skaters while still encouraging artists to express themselves in a constructive manner. The goal is to increase community awareness and understanding of street art, as well as provide examples of how street art can be a benefit to the community by leading young artists in a positive direction.

The objective of this figurative painting workshop is to explore the commonalities in the representational, abstract, and nonobjective painting more...0 worlds. We will attempt to find harmonious dialogue between these disciplines using various visual elements (shape, value, edges, color, line) with a live model. We will also discuss what role this can play in future artistic endeavors. While aspects of this workshop are designed with intermediate and advanced students in mind, all levels are welcome. Open to all painting media (oil, acrylic, watercolor, etc.). Ages 18 and up.

Come out to Edgewater Brewery on Saturday, August 4 from 1pm-9pm to enjoy 8 hours of live music performed by some of Grand Valley’s most more...0 popular bands and musicians! Join KAFM supporters, programmers, volunteers and staff for the annual Radio Daze event showcasing local talent. This year’s performers include Zac Grant Trio, Tight Thump, Thomasina Russell & Friends, Jack & Jill & Family, Mashed Potatoes, Union of None and The Emerson Project. Attendees will enjoy music from many genres, including acoustic, rock, blues, bluegrass and more! Kannah Creek will donate 100% of proceeds from their specially brewed 300 Watt Ale in support of KAFM Community Radio. This is a free event. KAFM will be holding a 50/50 raffle with the chance to win up to $999. Winner need not be present to win.

Adults bring a kit to build. Then, we will stop-motion film our creations battling each other. This is an adult event. If you have to ask if you count as an adult, you're probably an adult. Mention Geek Parties of the Grand Valley when buying your kit at eBricks Outlet Store for a 10% discount. 15% from all purchases at Steadfast Delights will go to Geek Parties to help fund more free events, so invite your families and friends to come in and hang out in the Ice Cream parlor.
