PG-13 (mature themes) Three Sisters chronicles three and a half years in the lives of a middle class family in late 19th century Russia, weary of their small town surroundings and yearning for more excitement. Written by Anton Chekhov, this classic work exemplifies the naturalistic form of writing that challenged the melodramatic conventions of the time. With themes of love, social aspirations and unfulfilled longing, Three Sisters is a masterpiece of theatre.

in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle, the outspoken and wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, ("I’m not crazy, I’ve just been in a bad mood for forty years"); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M’Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is about to marry a “good ole boy.” Filled with hilarious repartee and a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. The sudden realization of their mortality affects the others, but also draws on the underlying strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad. Friday, April 19 at 7 pm Saturday, April 20 at 2 and 7 pm Sunday, April 21 at 2 pm Tickets: $20 adult and $15 senior/student (available in advance at TAC or at the door - box office opens 1 hour prior to each performance) For more information on any show visit www.TheatreProjectGJ.com or call 970-260-7706 The Theatre Project Producing high-quality live community theatre in Grand Junction.
