Whether you are a first-time gardener or a veteran, you'll find something to inspire you in this class. Western Colorado native, master gardener, and host of KAFM's “Down to Earth with the Garden Genie,” Georgia Schmunk will share design and maintainence tips for a more fullfilling gardening experience. This lecture is packed with Down-to-Earth advice that both novice and experienced gardeners will find useful.
This event is free at the door, but reservations are suggested. A $5 donation is requested for website reservations. |

As a folk singer/songwriter, Tom has 13 recordings with one in progress. Tom has long-standing involvements with groups working for peace and justice, you will hear his music at the gates of military bases, nuclear plants, on union lines, and to free political prisoners. Having lived much of his life outside the U.S., Tom has performed his music in 20 countries on five continents. His original works, parodies, well known freedom songs, and poetry draw the listener into his musical response to globalization. His music tells the stories of peoples' struggles against greed and violence. Always an environmentalist, Tom has been at the forefront in organizing and songwriting to help people working against water privatization, mountaintop removal, fracking, climate change, nuclear waste, toxic dumps and incinerators. His music has been used in eight documentaries.

scheduled a free health insurance enrollment event on March 31st from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. inside the Mesa Mall – Cabela’s wing – located at 2424 Highway 6 & 50 in Grand Junction. Walk-ins are welcome!
The enrollment event takes place on the last day to enroll in health insurance coverage to avoid a penalty for not having coverage under an Affordable Care Act compliant health plan. After that, uninsured Coloradans cannot get commercial coverage until 2015 unless they have a special circumstance. The next open enrollment period will be November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015.

The festival highlights the beauty and fun of the winter backcountry experience. The evening includes the year’s best ski films - promoting the work of grassroots filmmakers who tell compelling and entertaining stories of the backcountry, non-motorized recreation, and environmental preservation. Submissions come from renowned filmmakers who travel every corner of the globe to submit their best backcountry work, and from grassroots filmmakers who take a video camera out on their weekend excursions and submit their best film short. The films are juried by a select panel of judges and the top films are assembled into a 90-minute program. The evening will also include prize drawings & discounted CMC memberships!
