Cat On A Hot Tin Roof June 5th

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof (1958) is the powerful, highly-charged, moving story of a neurotic, dysfunctional Southern family with its rivalries, tensions, and avarice. Its provocative screenplay by Richard Brooks and James Poe was adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name by Tennessee Williams. Directed by Richard Brooks and Starring Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Burl Ives, Jack Carson, Judith Anderson, Madeleine Sherwood, Larry Gates. Southern patriarch Ives learns he is dying; his greedy family, except for son Newman, falls all over itself sucking up to him. Tennessee Williams' classic study of ``mendacity'' comes to the screen somewhat laundered but still packing a wallop. Adaptation by Brooks and James Poe. Tickets are $5

North by North performing June 16th in the Radio Room

Hailing from the land of brutal winters and deep dish pizza, North by North have developed their own brand of infectious, spastic yet finely-honed rock and roll. They seamlessly toe the line between 3 minute garage pop anthems and your dad’s favorite “prog-rock deep cuts” cassette tape, with plenty of hooks to spare.Chicago garage duo, North By North’s surf-inspired rock and roll conjures images of catching waves off the Hawaiian coast all day before chasing the sun and sand with the swanky cabaret-blue nightcap. Guitar and vocalist, Nate Girard, and Kendra Blank, backup vocalist and drummer, blend blues, surf and cabaret into a heady rock and roll stew. Join us for a night of live music featuring North by North in the KAFM Radio Room on June 16th starting at 7:30 pm! Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Doors open at 7pm
