An honors graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Matheny vaulted onto the jazz scene in the 1990s as the protégé of jazz legend Art Farmer. Since then, he has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal international following, touring extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Mind Springs Foundation's Pedal for Prevention brings together survivors of suicide, their families, friends, and supporters of suicide prevention and awareness. This event is an opportunity to “move” for something that matters- whether that’s for health, recovery, or in memory of a loved one with the goal to raise money for life saving suicide prevention and mental health treatment through West Springs Hospital and its Psychiatric Emergency Department. This includes youth who walk into to our psychiatric emergency department. STEPS TO PARTICIPATE Register: Register as individuals or, new this year, a Family. Family registration includes up to 2 adults and 2 children. Make sure to include your team name and t-shirt sizes for all participants. Register by September 9 to guarantee your preferred t-shirt size and swag bag! Ride, walk, swim, hike – whatever you feel like doing the week of September 23-29. Wear your t-shirt and attend a class or group ride, participate on your own, or with friends and family. Take pictures or videos of your activity and share them on our Facebook event page or tag us on Instagram (@mindspringsfoundation) and let us know why this event is important to you.
