Throwback Thursday - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

July 31, 2014
This week last year, we added the third release from major Indie group, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, released on Rough Trade Records.

Music Director, Alicia, had this to say on the self titled release:

Alex Ebert and his merry band create the album they've been trying to since 2007's "Up From Below," this ENTIRE collection is full, beautiful, and addictive. It wouldn't be out of place in the mid- to late-sixties, but is still very current. I can't stop listening!!

The album made its way up the charts for months, and continues being played this year. ESATMZ will be playing in Denver on August 16th, and you can hear them Quick read more or view full article on KAFM, 88.1!

Throwback Thursday - Chico Trujillo

July 17, 2014
This week last year, we added Chico Trujillo's album, Gran Pecador!

The H-Man had this to say about the album:

Lollapalooza darlings, this Chilean band performs infectious and rhythmic Latin "Cumbia" dance and party beats. Lead singer Aldo Asenjo seems to want you to clap along and some tracks are backed by good horns, piano and accordin. Brush up on your Spanish.

Needless to say, this album was up and down the charts, and was played on several types of shows. For more new World music, keep it tuned to KAFM 88.1!

Throwback Thursday - Gregory Alan Isakov

July 3, 2014
This week last year, we added Colorado resident, Gregory Alan Isakov's album, The Weatherman.

Isakov was continually in the Top Five here at KAFM, for upwards of three months. Here's what the Music Bureau had to say about The Weatherman:

This is the third album for the South African singer/songwriter who calls Boulder, CO home. The Weatherman is a musical treat with lovely lyrics, piano and strings. The album was recorded in Nederland, CO on analogue gear and has a raw, right there in the music feel. Influences heard in his songs including Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, and Leonard Cohen. Yes and he's only in his mid 30s!

Keep it tuned Quick read more or view full article to KAFM for more music from Colorado, and Gregory Alan Isakov! Read Less
