Learn to Ride Grand Valley Transit
Add to your calendar
Date: February 3, 9:30 am
Continues Until:
Location: 525 S 6th Street
Details: Want to ride the bus, but you’re not sure exactly how?
Grand Valley Transit (GVT) will take the guesswork out of it during a free how-to-ride-the-bus training on Saturday, February 3 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the GVT Downtown Transfer Facility, 525 S. 6th Street in Grand Junction.
In an effort to help new riders feel more comfortable with the GVT service, GVT is offering a free 11-Ride fixed-route pass to any individual 12 years in age and older who successfully completes the travel training program.
Since many citizens have never used public transit, the GVT training will include information on:
  • Riding a GVT bus for the first time
  • Learning a new route
  • GVT’s fixed routes
  • Planning a trip
  • Reading schedules
  • Transferring to other buses
  • Paying fares and pass options
  • Loading a bicycle
  • Using a lift for mobility devices
“This training will enable any individual interested in riding GVT to gain the confidence and knowledge necessary to utilize GVT services,” said Elizabeth Collins of Mesa County.
GVT has 12 fixed routes that carry passengers throughout the Grand Valley from about 5:00am to 8:00pm Monday through Saturday. All buses are equipped with a bicycle rack, as well as a lift for mobility devices. GVT strives to make it easy to connect to other modes of transportation including aviation, rail, regional bus, walking, and bicycling.
This event will include a group ride on a GVT bus. All ages are welcome to attend, but children younger than 12 years must have an adult present. Please RSVP at (970) 256-7433.
