Promotions Manager – Event Coordinator

KAFM Community Radio in Western Colorado is looking for a skilled Promotions Manager, Event Coordinator that is passionate about music, radio, and the community we live and play in.

About the Promotions Manager Position
The focus of this role will be creating and managing on-site events, including station fundraising events, concerts in The Radio Room, live broadcasts, remotes, concerts at partner venues, community events. The Promotions Manager should have experience running promotional and music events and can converse comfortably with the public in an outgoing and friendly manner. The Promotions Manager is also responsible for enhancing the station’s image and visibility within the community.
 
The ideal candidate must be able to manage the development and execution of all station events, on and off site. Ability to manage duties in our music venue, The Radio Room, and assist in community service efforts, fundraising events, development of station marketing assets and develop opportunities within the community.
 
On-site events include day-to-day management of The Radio Room; sending booking offers, managing artist files for contracts, stage plots, riders and marketing assets. Manage Radio Station Events, i.e., live broadcasts, remotes, concerts, community service appearances, and talent appearances.

What You Will Do 
Manage the promotions department, which includes station image, appearances, merchandising, community, and public relations.
 
Manage KAFM’s calendar of events and internal files for all events including The Radio Room and KAFM’s Community Partnered Events.
 
Collaborate with the Executive Director, programming, and underwriting departments to develop and execute all facets of promoting and marketing KAFM and The Radio Room.
 
Responsible for the day-to-day management of The Radio Room Concerts and Radio Room rental: including setting up and striking the Radio Room depending on the needs of each event, keeping the concessions inventoried and stocked, managing the concessions and cash register during each show, arranging craft services for Talent and crew during each show in the Radio Room in KAFM’s KAFE and the Green Room, cleaning and restocking The Radio Room and KAFM’s Kafe and Green Room before and after each event.

Manage sending booking offers to musicians and their management, based on our calendar availability and budgets. Develop and manage a database of contacts of bands, talent, management, etc.

Assist in the creation of marketing assets for each event and responsible for building each events ticketing page, assist in the development and management of website content, set up each event and show on KAFM’s website and website calendar, writing Live Read Copy and producing on air recorded Promo’s for each show and/or event.

Coordinate and communicate closely with KAFM’s Sound Engineer and assist with their needs for each show and event. Assist Sound Engineer with sound checks prior to each show.
 
Liaison between the artists, their management, sound engineer, KAFM Executive Director, Sound Engineer and KAFM staff and volunteers.

Manage station mobile app content, active functions, and promotion plan to increase downloads and listener engagement. Develop creative and compelling on-air, on-line, and in-app contests promoting our events and shows.

Develop and build strong relationships within the community that result in enhanced station visibility, brand recognition, and promotional partnerships that align with and grow KAFM’s visibility.

Attending staff meetings to report per and post production tasks.

Set up and breakdown of promotional booths and displays at on-site events.

Maintain knowledge of current FCC (and other appropriate governmental agencies, CPB, NFCB) regulations, ensuring compliance and protection of station licenses.

Interact with volunteers, listeners, co-workers, and station clients in a professional manner.

Must be a Team Player, willing to learn and work hard in a creative fast paced atmosphere while being friendly and helpful to your team members.
 
Must be well organized, and self-motivated. Have a professional yet creative appearance, friendly demeanor, and a willingness to learn the various programs needed to perform the job.
 
Must be reliable and dependable, unreliability is not an option in this position.
 
Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary and lift 60lbs or more.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience in Promotion and Events helpful
Willingness to learn
High School Graduate
Valid Drivers License
 
Pay and Benefits
This is a part time position with a minimum of 20 hours per week at $15 per hour.
PTO will be provided.
 
Location
This is a shared in office and remote position. Some work may involve travel to client locations and station events.
