Details: The Junior Service League (JSL) of Grand Junction will be hosting its annual Grant Awards Dinner on Monday, December 9, 2019, beginning at 6:00 pm at The Doubletree Hotel. JSL is a non-profit service organization comprised of women who are committed to working together to improve the community through effective volunteerism and fundraising. In total, there were 46 grant applicants asking for funding. This year, JSL will be awarding $56,000 in grants to 24 local non-profit organizations right here in Mesa County. The funds that will be distributed on Monday night were raised at JSL’s 2019 fundraiser, Viva el Vino, a wine tasting event held at Colorado Mesa University’s Ballroom. This year’s grant recipients will include CASA, Clifton Christian Church Food and Clothing, Colorado Discoverability, Community Food Bank, Eureka! McConnell Science Museum, First Presbyterian Church, Freedom and Responsibility Education Enterprise, Girl Scouts of Colorado, Grand Junction Imagination Library, Grand Valley Catholic Outreach, Harmony Acres Equestrian Center, Hilltop Community Resources Inc., HOPE of the Grand Valley, Karis Inc., Kids Aid, Mesa County Safety Council, Mosaic, St. Mary’s Foster Grandparent Program, Steppin' It Up Inc., The Autism Task Force, The Counseling and Education Center, Fruita Thrift Shop Imagination Library, Western Colorado Area Health Education Center, and Western Colorado Center for the Arts. Lastly, JSL will be awarding the first ever Breast Cancer Awareness Grant, a special $25,000 grant, to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation. Press is welcome to attend the dinner. JSL would like to thank our community for allowing us to provide the local community with the necessary funding.
