Freya’s paintings include the areas of abstraction, landscape, surrealism and portrait/figure.  She enjoys exploration of ideas and media.  A recent series of abstraction is based on nature’s repeating shapes, patterns of growth and movement.  The surrealist work combines recognizable elements whose interrelationships, combined with areas of abstraction, produce a dreamlike effect.

Gjeneve Hopkinson

Visiting family in Colorado Gjeneve was drawn to the rugged beauty and colorful landscape and eventually moved out here.  Not happy with her attempts at traditional quilting, she moved into the realm of art quilts and fiber art. Mary Kollman

"The dominating forces of nature are the inspiration that drives me to paint … allowing me to discover a whole new way of seeing.  The beauty I see in nature evokes an emotion in me that is expressed by the textures, intense colors and mysterious deep shadows of my paintings.Camping, hiking, skiing and enjoying the rain inspired me at a very young age to capture the drama of the
glorious Pacific Northwest through drawing, watercolors, crayons and storytelling. Moves to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and New Mexico inspired new forms of expression that reflected the majestic mountains, bubbling streams, big skies and glowing sunsets. Previous boundaries were expanded into abstract landscape. With a move to the east coast, my work has further evolved into pure abstractions, becoming looser and bolder, and launching my foray into “Abstract Expressionism”.
I am an experimental artist. But having been a successful commercial interior designer for 25 years, I incorporate good design principles, using light against darks, opaques with transparents, focal points and areas of rest. These principles are evident in each painting.  However, the painting soon becomes a magical self expression, at which point I listen to the painting, moving and stroking with an inner voice that’s experimenting, playful and yet focused on becoming a new and unique form.
Regardless of style, I paint the intricacies of nature and the tremendous hope that it brings for a new tomorrow. It’s my desire that my art evokes a strong pleasant emotion in the collector. I hope that it leaves you with a fond memory, a smile on your face and tremendous joy in your new purchase."

Amy Kuper

Amy's work portrays beauty and empowerment of the feminine in the world. The flowers and natural themes in her pieces represent the continuation of nature and its ability to produce a future generation, a symbol of hope for another day and life. Amy creates many figurative pieces involving subjects in various poses.

Vinje Lawson

Vinje's art is as diverse as the interior of the 1970s travel trailer she decked out in seashells, Christmas lights and swimming mermaids, known by friends as the Mermaid House. She likes to meditate in the cool, soothing light of the enchanted seascape she parked in her back yard as often as her work permits.  On the other hand, her art is as traditional as the bold and bright landscapes and still-life paintings that pattern the aging walls of her historic residence.

Nancy Lewis

In 2006, Nancy’s love for adventure and her life-long appreciation for nature’s immense beauty culminated in what would become an epic and life-changing journey. Accompanied by her husband, Nancy set out from Inuvik, Canada on a bicycle tour that would eventually lead her 14,000 miles south to the port city of Puerto Montt, Chile. Over the course of the three year journey, Nancy used paint, pen, pencil, and camera to capture the complexity and beauty of the ever-changing landscapes, seasons and cultures. Her subjects ranged from the stark, desolate beauty of high Andes volcanic mountains to the colorful Central America markets.

Since the first grade, John Lintott remembers always looking forward to art class in school more than any other subject. Art has always played an important role in his life.  While a student at Colorado State University, he decided to pursue his interest for painting as a career, "Art has always been my love, and it has become the driving force in everything I do. I've always viewed art as a type of therapy that balances life and gives me the opportunity to continue learning with a passion." Graduating in 2001 with his BFA with a concentration in painting, John has painted seriously ever since.

Ron MacKendrick

Ron was introduced to wood turning in high school shop class. As encouragement his parents bought him a small lathe on which he turned sporadically for the next 35+ years working around college, career and family. Ron turns distressed wood that many turners would throw out.  Ron produces both natural edged vessels and the more standard platters, bowl and vases from this wood.
Recently Ron has added wall hangings (both turnings and collages) to his repertoire.

Susan Metzger

Batik gave Susan a way to "possess" hundreds of wonderful buildings. Every time she draws, wax and dye a building it becomes hers. Susan also has the opportunity to share her love of historic architecture when she shows her artwork.  Susan translates the photographs she takes on her travels into batiks, pastels and paintings.

Charles Morris

The art of Charles Morris, a native of Colorado, reflects his passion for nature and the environment that has deepened over a lifetime of experiencing the wonders that surround us. His interests as an artist have slowly evolved from his early fascination of the details and textures found in subjects of weathered barns and wooded landscapes to the effects of color and light that now bring both his figurative and landscape subjects to life.

David Mosier

Upon retirement from the U.S. Public Health Service a few years ago, David and his wife moved to The Grand Valley in large part because of the area’s natural environment.  And while the still life genre is probably his forte, David can’t resist painting landscapes, despite the great difficulty in choosing from among so many subjects.  A self-taught, extremely erratic Sunday painter for many years, David is glad to finally be able to paint more “religiously.”

Vera Mulder

At the present Vera creates batiks, design ceramics, paint, print and create art through the lens of my cameras. Vera enjoys doing art on commission, be it in fibers, painting, clay, mixed media or photography. Vera hopes that her art can brighten the lives of others. “Art is what I do. I take my bag of art and spread it everywhere I go. In my life time I have witnessed the many blessings and wonderment art brings to the heart of young and old and all in-between.”

Paul Rhymer

Paul comes from a family of artists and has drawn and painted his whole life.  After receiving an Associate of Arts degree from a local college in 1984, he accepted a job at the Smithsonian Institution doing taxidermy and model making and retired in 2010.  As a result of so much three-dimensional work in his museum job, his own personal artwork gradually began to transform from painting and drawing into sculpture.  Being an avid birder, waterfowl hunter, and taxidermist gives him constant anatomy and behavioral learning experiences that inspire his sculpture.

Judy Rogan

In 2009 Judy Rogan picked up a paintbrush and her life, as well as the Grand Junction, Colorado art scene, hasn't been the same.  She was recently honored with the winning painting called "Tipsy Trails" for the Colorado Mountain Winefest poster.  Judy is also in demand as an animal character artist and has been featured on the Roice Hurst Humane Society fund raising wine label in 2012.

Ellen Dean Wilson

As an artist, a farmer and a human Ellen draws inspiration from nature. “The nature that surrounds me, what I see every day. The nature that is me, what I feel everyday; and that constant flow of nature that binds us all and connects us in all ways. My art manifests itself from any and all of these experiences”.   Ellen is  just the one who stands with paint, brushes and hands, ready to give form to the formless. So what you see in any given work of art is a moment snagged from the infinite.

Ramona Winkeller

Ramona originally created designs in weavings, pastels and watercolors but switched to beads in 1999 loving how colors and designs come together. She has always been fascinated with the elements of design and imagines herself recreating the designs and webs we see in nature. She sees design as a spiritual practice to insure protection or connect with the Divine.
Ramona likes to travel anywhere, be outside under the stars and soaking in hot springs.
